Ram girls run in Audubon meet

Olivia Shannon paced the Ram girls track and field team with her first place finish in the 200m dash at the Audubon meet Thursday, April 1.

Shannon set a personal best time of 28.50 seconds. Coach Derek Merk noted she ran against “great competition,” and shortened her previous PR of 29.12 set in 2020.

Shannon also was part of the third place 4 X 100m relay team. She and Annie Twillie, Makala Kafer and Brianna Osterson ran the race in 55.11 seconds. The coach gave a “shout-out” to Twillie, saying, “We had to find someone to fill for one of the legs in the 4X100 and she did a great job helping the relay secure a third place finish.

Katrina Heupel placed sixth in the 800m run with a time of 2:44.87.”There was a stacked field and she stayed with the pack most of the race,” Merk said.

In field events, Brianna Osterson placed second in the long jump at 15’ 11”. Brooklynn Olson placed third in the shot put at 37’ 1”, and fifth in the discus with a throw of 103’ 3”.

The coach also commended Grace Hardaway and Autumn Stevens for setting personal records in the 1500m race. Hardaway took 4 seconds off her time and Stevens took of 28 seconds. He said Ashlynn Hinners “looked really good” throwing the discus and threw 75’7”. Skylar Warnke bumped up her personal record in the shot put from 24;5: to 26’ 11”.
