Prairie Rose State Park near Harlan welcomed some special visitors this week, and they are taking some of the parks’ land management issues into their own… mouths. This past week, about 20 goats arrived to chow down on non-native honeysuckle and other nuisance vegetation threatening to crowd-out native plants in the park’s woodlands.

It was a hot, humid week in Jefferson. Volunteer weather observer John Beltz reports a high temperature of 91 degrees, but the apparent heat was well over 100 degrees. Low temperature was 60 degrees, but more often the overnight low was close to 70 or warmer. Jefferson received a total of .94 inches of rain.
