Rippey library jugglerJuggler Jason Kollum from Chicago performed his interactive show on Monday, July 13, in the Rippey public library. Twenty folks young and old were very much entertained by his high energy performance. Everyone attending was able to participate in the art of juggling and balancing. He had the audience laughing and amazed. Jason performed at all six libraries in the county in two days.  This event was sponsored by the Greene County board of supervisors and the Greene County Library Association, who chose the event for this year’s collaborative program. It was a great choice!

Rippey fire truck 2Wednesday, July 13, Rippey firemen Pete Johnson and Brad Rowe presented a program for the summer reading theme, Every Hero Has a Story. Brad began with a slide presentation showing various training exercises firemen have participated in, which generated several questions from the kids. Pete demonstrated the equipment and gear firefighters wear when responding to an emergency. The kids tried on the gear and were surprised that it weighed so much. They were also impressed by the thermal imaging equipment that Brad demonstrated. Even though it was drizzling outside, they were able to look over the fire truck and equipment. Of course the pumps were turned on and everyone got their feet wet!! The presenters were very interesting to listen to and the audience was very attentive.  We in Rippey are grateful for our “heroes” on the fire department.Rippey fire truck 1
