Greene County district court, week ending April 14

In Greene County district court Jerry Dean Barker, 59, of Grand Junction was sentenced April 10 to 15 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to a charge of possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine. Charges of possession of methamphetamine- third offense, possession of marijuana- third or subsequent offense (two counts), and failure to affix tax stamp were dismissed. Court costs were $185. Candi Renee Lamberti, 39, of Des Moines was sentenced June 13 to five years in prison after she pleaded guilty to a charge of theft- second degree. She was fined $1,025 with a $187.50 surcharge. Lamberti was sentenced to one year in jail with all but five days suspended on a charge of possession of methamphetamine. The prison and jail terms are consecutive. She was fined $430 with an $87.50 surcharge. Court costs were $500.32. A charge in magistrate court of possession of drug paraphernalia was dismissed. A judgment for a $95.50 was entered in that case. (Sentencing; Polking)

Jay Dolliver Orsack, 55, of Churdan was sentenced April 12 to 14 days in jail, concurrent to a jail sentence in a Polk Cunty case, after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated. He was fined $1,250 with a $187.50 surcharge; one-half will be waived if he obtains a temporary restricted license. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. He must also complete a drinking drivers course at his own expense. Court costs were $100. Dawn Maria Miller, 48, of Lanesboro was sentenced to five years in prison after she pleaded guilty to a charge of passing winning wager to another person, amended from gambling- avoid setoff. The prison term was suspended and she was placed on probation to the Iowa Department of Corrections for two years. Miller was fined $1,025 with a $153.75 surcharge. A charge of fraudulent practice- third degree was dismissed. Court costs were $100. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Benjamin Harold Winborne, 34, of Churdan was sentenced to 20 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license barred. All but 10 days of the jail term was suspended and he was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. Winborne was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge. He must pay an amount not to exceed $600 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $100 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Bruce K. Binkley, 61, of Jefferson was sentenced to 30 days in jail after he pleaded guilty to a charge of assault- simple, amended from assault causing bodily injury or mental illness. The jail sentence was suspended and he was placed on informal probation to the Greene County sheriff for one year. Binkley was fined $105 with a $15.75 surcharge. Court costs were $131.50. Information is available since the return of an arrest warrant that Jason Curtis Vote, 41, of Somers is charged with possession of marijuana and possession of methamphetamine. The warrant was issued 8/04/2022 and returned April 5.

Cases were initiated in district court during the week ending April 14 as follows: Candice Marie Ortiz, 35, of Grand Junction, driving while license barred; and Jay D. Wenger, 34, of Beaver, driving while license barred.
