In Greene County district court Randall Steven Gosch, 49, of Carroll was sentenced March 1 to 30 days in jail after he pleaded guilty to charges of theft- fifth degree and possession of stolen property, amended from theft- third degree. The jail sentence was suspended and he was placed on informal probation to the Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. Gosch was fined $105 with a $15.75 surcharge. He must pay an amount not to exceed $750 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees. Court costs were $735.46. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)
Julie Ann Wells, 54, of Auburn was sentenced Feb. 26 to one year in jail after she changed her plea to guilty to one charge of illegal possession of a prescription drug. The jail sentence was suspended and she was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. She must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at her own expense. Wells was fined $315 with a $47.25 surcharge. The court found her unable to pay restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees or court costs. Three counts of possession of marijuana- third or subsequent offense and one count of illegal possession of a prescription drug was dismissed. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Jill Elizabeth Zito, 60, of Jefferson was granted a deferred judgment March 5 after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of forgery. She was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year, and she must complete a mental health evaluation and follow any recommendations. She must pay a $1,025 civil penalty. Share Ann Allen, 53, of Grand Junction was sentenced to one year in jail after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated- first offense. All but two days of the jail time was suspended and she was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. She may complete the Des Moines Area Community College 48-hour alcohol education program in lieu of the jail time. She must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at her own expense. Allen was fined $1,250 with a $187.50 surcharge; one-half will be waived if she obtains a temporary restricted license. She must pay up to $600 restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees. Ryan Douglas Patterson, 40, of Jefferson was sentenced to one year in jail after he pleaded guilty to a charge of assault causing bodily injury or mental illness, amended from domestic abuse assault- second offense. The jail time was suspended. If Patterson serves it at some time, it will be consecutive to sentences in three other Greene County cases. He was placed on probation to the Department of Correctional Services for two years. He must reside at a residential correctional facility until he achieves maximum benefits. He must also undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. Patterson was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge. Tristan Stefan Knudsen, 24, of Ames was granted a deferred judgment after he pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia, amended from possession of marijuana. He was placed on informal probation to the Greene County sheriff for one year. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. Knudsen must pay a $105 civil penalty, restitution for his court appointed attorney not to exceed $300, and $100 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Nicholas Joseph White, 40, of Newton, pleaded not guilty at arraignment on charges of theft- second degree, possession of stolen property, criminal mischief- fourth degree, and trespass causing more than $300 property damage. A trial date was set for May 11.
Cases were initiated in Greene County district court as follows: Lawrence Xavier Knox, 25, of Emmetsburg, possession of marijuana; Zachary Michael Wailes, 26, of Stuart, robbery- first degree and theft- first degree; and Tyler Scott Mattingly, 26, of Carroll, robbery- first degree and theft- first degree aiding and abetting.
