There’s nothing good about having the flu, but the effort the Greene County public health department at Greene County Medical Center is making to make it easy to get a flu shot is good news.
Community flu clinics are scheduled as follows:
- Jefferson – Tuesday, Oct. 13, 9 am to 3 pm, and Thursday, Oct. 22, 1 to 4 pm, at the public health office at the medical center
- Churdan – Friday, Oct. 16, 10 am to 12 pm, Churdan Methodist Church
- Paton – Friday, Oct. 16, 1:30 to 3:30 pm, Paton public library
- Scranton – Friday, Oct. 23, 9 to 11 am, Scranton Methodist Church (congregate meal site)
- Grand Junction – Friday, Oct. 30, 9 am to 12 pm, St Brigid Parish Center
- Rippey – Friday, Oct. 30, 1:30 to 3:30 pm, Rippey public library
New this year is a pair of “drive-thru” flu clinics at which persons can drive up and get a flu shot without leaving their car. The drive-thru clinics are scheduled for Monday, Oct. 19, from 5 to 7 pm at Clover Hall at the Greene County Fairgrounds in Jefferson; and Saturday, Oct. 24, from 9 to 11 am at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson.
Flu shots are billable to Medicare, Medicaid, Title XIX, Blue Cross/Blue Shield and other private insurance. The injection is $32; the mist is $40.
