Following are excerpts of activities reported by the Greene County sheriff’s office:
Sunday, July 26: At 1:25 am the sheriff’s office, DCI, Jefferson Fire, Greene County Ambulance, Carroll County sheriff’s office, Calhoun County sheriff’s office, and the Iowa State Patrol assisted with an officer-involved shooting near 245th St and L Ave southeast of Jefferson.
Saturday, July 25: At 11:07 am a deputy investigated a theft in Scranton. At 8:15 pm a deputy, Grand Junction Rescue and Greene County Ambulance responded to a single-vehicle rollover accident on U Ave near 240th St south of Grand Junction. A juvenile was driving a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix and lost control on the gravel, rolling the vehicle once in the ditch. There were no injuries. Damage to the vehicle exceeded value. At 10:13 pm Daniel Bermudez, 62, of Jefferson was booked into the on a charge of operating while intoxicated*.
Friday, July 24: At 10:36 pm Shawna McCullough, 44, of Yale was booked into the jail on a charge of operating while intoxicated*.
Thursday, July 23: At 10:05 am Joshua Parrish, 30, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on a charge of disorderly conduct*. At 2:49 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in Churdan. At 4:48 pm Daniel Tasler, 35, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on charges of theft- second degree and criminal mischief- third degree*.
Wednesday, July 22: At 9:22 am a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in Churdan. At 2:58 pm Orlando Love, 50, of Jefferson was booked into the jail for a violation of probation*. At 4:24 pm a deputy investigated a hit-and-run accident in the 800 block of Fitzpatrick St in Churdan.
Tuesday, July 21: At 2:30 am a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with an arrest in the 1000 block of Lincoln Way in Jefferson. At 9:54 am Candice Ortiz, 38, of Grand Junction was booked into the jail on a charge of disorderly conduct*. At 11:08 am deputies, Jefferson fire department, and Greene County Ambulance responded to a two-vehicle accident on Hwy 30 at J Ave west of Jefferson. Walker McDermott of Wiota was eastbound driving a 2026 Chevrolet Silverado. James Collins of Alabama was northbound on J Ave driving a 2001 Bluebird bus. Collins failed to stop as posted and the McDermott struck the driver’s side of the bus. Both drivers refused medical attention. Collins was cited for failure to yield to a stop sign. Damage to McDermott’s vehicle exceeded value. Damage to the bus was estimated at $2,000.
Monday, July 20: At 7:08 am a deputy removed a deer from the roadway on Hwy 144 near 150th St east of Paton. At 9:24 am a deputy conducted a welfare check in the 1600 block of 290th St in Greenbrier Township. Nancy Obrien, 55, of Carroll was arrested for operating while intoxicated*. She was booked into the jail on the charge. At 11:46 pm Nicole Baugh, 50, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on a charge of disorderly conduct*.
Sunday, July 19: At 6:56 pm a deputy assisted the Spring Lake Park ranger with horses at large.
Saturday, July 18: At 5:39 pm a deputy assisted with a cow out on the roadway near Eaton Ave and 120th St in Cedar Township. At 7:07 pm a deputy investigated a suspicious person in the 600 block of W. Paton St in Paton. Shane Jewett, 50, of Fort Dodge was arrested for public intoxication*. He was later booked into the jail on the charge.
Friday, July 17: At 10:08 am a deputy investigated a gas drive off in the 400 block of E. Paton St in Paton. At 1:58 pm Shaun Warnke, 47, of Scranton was booked into the jail on a charge of for driving while license barred*.
Thursday, July 16: At 2:30 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 1200 block of E Ave in Scranton Township. At 5:26 pm a deputy investigated a domestic assault in Grand Junction. At 7:18 pm Tiffany Julin, 44, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on charges of identity theft and forgery*.
Wednesday, July 15: At 9:41 am Jay Wenger, 38, of Scranton was booked into the jail for a violation of parole*. At 3:13 pm the sheriff’s office and Jefferson conducted a search warrant at 307 Edgewood Ave in Jefferson. Stolen property, suspected controlled substances, and drug paraphernalia were seized. Charges are pending.
Tuesday, July 14: At 11:01 am a deputy investigated a violation of a no contact order in the 600 block of Brentwood Ave. At 11:51 am a deputy investigated a harassment complaint in the 400 block of East Main Street, Grand Junction. At 12:52 pm the sheriff and a Jefferson PD investigated a theft at the Greene County fairgrounds. At 4:14 pm Kenneth Bonnette, 39, of Scranton was booked into the jail on charges of failure to appear, domestic abuse assault, and violation of a no contact order*. At 7:35 pm Jonathan Wittrock, 54, of Carroll was booked into the jail for possession of a controlled substance*.
Monday, July 13: At 12:05 pm a deputy investigated a scam in Scranton. At 7:42 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass complaint in the 1100 block of Eaton Ave in Kendrick Township. At 10:25 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in Grand Junction.

Saturday, July 11: At 12:28 am a deputy assisted the Boone County sheriff’s office with locating a person near 130th St and A Ave in Boone County. The deputy used Greene County’s drone and located the person. At 3:04 am Kevin Peterson, 61, of Nevada was booked into the jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia*. At 8:13 pm Tiffany Umsted, 47, of Fort Dodge was booked in to the jail on a charge of public intoxication*. At 9:48 pm a deputy assisted with a cow out on the roadway in the 300 block of 130th St.
Friday, July 10: At 10:16 pm a deputy conducted a traffic stop in Grand Junction. Samantha Henderson of Jefferson was arrested on an outstanding warrant for a probation violation*. She was later booked into the county jail.
Thursday, July 9: At 11:12 am Zachery Waters, 30, of Churdan was booked into the jail on a charge of harassment- third degree*. At 9:09 pm a deputy assisted with cattle out on D Ave near 130th St in Cedar Township.
Wednesday, July 8: At 7:01 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on Hwy 4 near J Ave east of Churdan. Robert Beckman of Lake City struck a deer with a 2025 Ford Escape. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $20,000.
Tuesday, July 7: At 7:37 pm Jamie Wade, 26, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on a charge of domestic abuse assault*. At 8:28 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 1400 block of Jordan Ave in Jackson Township.
Monday, July 6: At 12:15 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 300 block of Head St in Churdan. At 5:16 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 600 block of S. 12th St in Grand Junction.
Sunday, July 5: At 12:06 am a deputy investigated a domestic assault in Dana. Nathan Zollars of Dana was arrested on a charge of domestic abuse assault- second offense*. He was later booked into the jail on the charge. At 1:33 am a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in Grand Junction. At 3:13 am a deputy investigated a complaint of a suspicious person in the 2300 block of 185th St in Junction Township. Khane Smith, 19, of Paton was arrested on charges of public intoxication and possession of alcohol under age*. He was later booked into the jail on the charges. At 12:23 pm a deputy investigated a harassment complaint in Grand Junction. At 2:42 pm Liberty Norgart, 23, of Grand Junction was booked into the jail on a charge of harassment- third degree*. At 4:47 pm Eric Carpenter, 49, of Altoona was booked into the jail on a charge of operating while intoxicated*. At 9:31 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of fireworks being used in the 800 block of Percival St in Grand Junction.
Saturday, July 4: At 9:09 pm a deputy investigated an assault in Grand Junction. Liberty Norgart of Grand Junction was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct*. At 11:40 pm a deputy investigated an assault in Churdan.
Friday, July 3: At 8:43 am the sheriff and a deputy assisted with cattle out on 222nd St near Pioneer Ave east of Jefferson. At 3:30 pm Caleb Pedersen, 19, of Dana was booked into the jail on a charge of possession of marijuana*. At 5:08 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of child neglect in Churdan. At 5:37 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in Grand Junction. At 6:29 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of a vicious dog on 150th St in Cedar Township. At 7:49 pm a deputy investigated a theft in Scranton. At 9:38 pm a deputy assisted with cattle out on C Ave near 130th St in Cedar Township*. At 10:55 pm Liberty Norgart, 23, of Grand Junction was booked into the jail on a charge of disorderly conduct*. At 11:11 and 11:37 pm a deputy investigated complaints of fireworks being used in Scranton.
Thursday, July 2: At 9:48 am a deputy removed debris from the roadway on Hwy 144 near 150th St two miles north of Dana. At 10:19 pm Jeremy Beason, 28, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on a charge of domestic abuse assault*.
Wednesday, July 1: At 5:22 am a deputy, Jefferson police department, Greene County Ambulance, and Jefferson Fire responded to a structure fire in the 400 block of W. Harrison St. There was minor damage to the structure. The cause of the fire was determined to be a electric exhaust fan. At 7:14 am Max Leyende, 36, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine and manufacture, deliver, possess with intent to deliver, or conspiracy to deliver with the intent*. At 2:03 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with executing a search warrant at a residence in the 400 block of N. Olive St in Jefferson. At 9:45 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in the 600 block of S. 15th St in Grand Junction. At 11:20 pm Steven Ogren, 67, of Jefferson was booked into the jail on a charge of operating while intoxicated*.
