Ram girls take second at DSM Christian meet

The Greene County girls track and field team competed April 22 at Des Moines Christian, taking second place, as the end of the season swiftly approaches.

The Ram will compete in the Heart of Iowa Conference meet May 2 at South Hamilton High School. Next Thursday, May 9, the Rams will compete in the state qualifying meet in Manson.

Monday’s second place team finish brought plenty of individual opportunities for the Rams. Daniele Madsen won the shot put, with Kaycee Pittman finishing first in the 400 meter hurdles. Hailey Carman took second in the 400 meter dash, with Emma Ewalt finishing second in discus and third in shot put. Alaina Heard had a third place discus finish.

Other top five finishes included: Kaylee Stalder, discus, fourth; Payton Kokenge, high jump, fourth; Bellah Johnson, 100 meter hurdles and 400 meter hurdles, fourth; Makenna Dzuris, 100 meter dash (JV), fourth; Addison Gallagher, 200 meter dash, fifth. 

Top three finishes for relays were plentiful. First place relay teams were the 800 sprint medley quartet of Gannon, Lila Osterson, Savannah Lansman and Pittman, and the 4×200 meter relay team of Lansman, Gannon, Osterson and Kokenge. The distance medley group of Gallagher, Stalder, Lansman and Pittman also took first.

Taking second place were the 800 sprint medley junior varsity team of Johnson, Kokenge, Calleigh Fitzpatrick and Sara Morlan; the 4×100 meter relay (JV) with Jennifer Robbins, Morlan, Ava Binkley and Dzuris; and the 4×400 meter relay team of Kokenge, Pittman, Sadie Shannon and Carman. The 4×100 meter relay team of Johnson, Stalder, Fitzpatrick and Osterson saw a third place finish. 

Results were:

Shot put – Daniele Madsen, 32-09, first; Emma Ewalt, 31-04, third; Alaina Heard, 27-0, sixth.

Discus – Emma Ewalt, 99-04, second; Alaina Heard, 86-03, third; Kaylee Stalder, 80-03, fourth.

High jump – Payton Kokenge, 4-08, fourth; Lila Osterson, 4-06, sixth.

Long jump – Savannah Lansman, 14-05, sixth.

100 meter hurdles – Bellah Johnson, 18.61, fourth; Jennifer Robbins, 19.98, eighth.

400 meter hurdles – Kaycee Pittman, 1:14.04, first; Bellah Johnson, 1:19.51, fourth. 

100 meter dash (junior varsity) – Makenna Dzuris, 16.13, fourth.

100 meter dash – Sara Morlan, 14.57, seventh; Ava Binkley, 16.18, 14th.

200 meter dash – Addison Gannon, 28.85, fifth; Kaylee Stalder, 29.53, sixth; Ava Binkley, 33.19, ninth. 

400 meter dash – Hailey Carman, 1:08.84, second.

800 meter run – Hailey Carman, 2:47.03, sixth; Sadie Shannon, 2:54.31, eighth.

1500 meter run – Evelyn Snyder, 6:29.89, ninth.

800 sprint medley (junior varsity) – Bellah Johnson, Payton Kokenge, Calleigh Fitzpatrick, Sara Morlan, 2:19.54, second.

800 sprint medley – Addison Gannon, Lila Osterson, Savannah Lansman, Kaycee Pittman, 2:00.87, first.

4×100 meter relay (junior varsity) – Jennifer Robbins, Sara Morlan, Ava Binkley, Makenna Dzuris, 1:01.93, second.

4×100 meter relay – Bellah Johnson, Kaylee Stalder, Calleigh Fitzpatrick, Lila Osterson, 56.09, third.

4×200 meter relay – Savannah Lansman, Addison Gannon, Lila Osterson, Payton Kokenge, 1:54.62, first.

4×400 meter relay – Payton Kokenge, Kaycee Pittman, Sadie Shannon, Hailey Carman, 4:35.66, second.

Distance medley – Addison Gannon, Kaylee Stalder, Savannah Lansman, Kaycee Pittman, 4:28.24, first. 

Junior varsity team scores: Des Moines Christian 10; Greene County 8.
