Greene County district court, week ending March 1

In Greene County district court, Amanda Joyce Brooks, 37, of Altoona was granted a deferred judgment Feb. 22 after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of burglary- third degree. She was placed on probation of the Iowa Department of Correctional Services for three years. She must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at her own expense. A judgment was entered for a $1,025 civil penalty. Brooks must also pay restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees not to exceed $1,200 and $100 court costs. A charge of theft- fourth degree was dismissed. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)

Noel Matthew Bartusek, 30, of Churdan pleaded not guilty Feb. 28 to a charge of driving while license revoked. A trial date was set for May 14.

Information is available since the return of an arrest warrant that Nicole Victoria Thompson, 28, of Cherokee has been charged with possession of marijuana and possession of methamphetamine.

Cases were initiated in Greene County district court as follows: Tracy William McDonald, 47, of Jefferson, theft- third degree; Justin Joe Downs, 38, of Churdan, possession of marijuana- second offense, possession of methamphetamine- second offense, and dominion/control of fire arm/offensive weapon by domestic abuse offender, and in a second case, possession of marijuana- third of subsequent offense; ; Kyle Evan Habrich, 35, of Boone, possession of marijuana- third or subsequent offense; Star N. Gifford, 32, of Jefferson, driving while license revoked; and Samantha Nicole Randall, 38, of Des Moines, possession of a controlled substance- third or subsequent offense.
