February Ag Coffee discussion will be edge of field conservation practices

Greene County Extension & Outreach is hosting a series of ag coffee events, bringing farmers and other agricultural professionals together for an informal discussion on current ag topics.

The third ag coffee will be Friday, Feb. 16, from 9:30 to 11 am at the Extension meeting room.  The discussion topic will be Field Conservation- Nutrient Reduction Practices, presented by Tony Mensing, field agricultural engineer “Iowa crop farmers take on a dual role being both production specialists and stewards of the land and water. Come learn how edge of field practices, including saturated buffers and bioreactors, can be tools that align with the demands of that dual role, providing potential for positive water quality impacts without reducing field tile drainage capacity,” Mensing said.

The February meeting is sponsored by Landus Cooperative. Reservations are not required. Persons who want more information can call the Extension office at 515-386-2138.
