Chapter CZ P.E.O. members are volunteer readers at elementary school

As members of an organization focused on education and learning, women of Chapter CZ of P.E.O. decided to share their love of reading with young people.  A number of members of the Chapter have volunteered to read to classes at Greene County Elementary School throughout the school year.

The readers signed up to do the reading through the Jefferson public library children’s department.  The librarian schedules the readers with various elementary classes and selects appropriate books for that class.

In addition, some of the members have also volunteered directly with the elementary school to help in other ways with math and individual reading with students.

Six of the Chapter CZ readers are pictured here following a program at Warm Wishes, a Jefferson stationery/gift shop. Pictured (from left) are Shelly Berger, Kathy Marshall, Karen Lawton, Jean Van Gilder, Paula Shriver and Jacque Andrew.

P.E.O. is an international philanthropic organization where women celebrate the advancement of women; educate women through scholarships, grants, awards, loans, and stewardship of Cottey College and motivate women to achieve their highest aspirations.
