Jewett joins medical center board of trustees

The Greene County Medical Center board of trustees and administration introduced a new member to the board at their November meeting. Long time Greene County resident Angela (Angie) Jewett was appointed to the board of trustees to complete the term of Ralph Reidesel, who retired from the board effective Nov. 30. His term expires Dec. 31, 2022.

Jewett currently lives in Grand Junction, and although she has been retired since 2020, she has remained an active citizen. She is on the American Red Cross Central Iowa Chapter, Des Moines: Disaster Action Team, as well as serving as an Emergency Management Agency Coordinator, and a community volunteer leader. With her background and skillset in environmental health, safety, emergency management, business, and education, Jewett has an abundance of knowledge that she will bring to medical center board of trustees.

“I hope to make a positive impact at Greene County Medical Center and the surrounding communities by using my emergency planning, and management background to help foster preparedness in our community,” said Jewett. “I hope to give back to the community and help the medical center grow and continue to move forward.”

Jewett is replacing board member Ralph Riedesel, who has served since 2004, and retired from the board effective Nov. 30. Over the 17 years Riedesel served on the board, he worked on many projects such as medical center renovations and new additions, the addition of new services and providers, and helped the medical center make difficult decisions during the Covid-19 crisis. Riedesel also was part of several committees at the medical center, and active in the surrounding communities serving as mayor in Paton for three terms. His time served on the board has been much appreciated by the medical center.

“Being on the Greene County Medical Center board of trustees was more than a position. It is more than just going to one meeting a month. It was a commitment to the medical center, and to the people in Greene County,” said Riedesel. “It is not easy, but it is so rewarding, and I thank Greene County Medical Center for the opportunity.”
