Fall is the perfect time to settle in with a good book, and the Friends of the Jefferson Public Library are making it easy to stock up on reading material when they host their 34th annual used book sale Monday, Sept. 21 through Saturday, Sept. 26 at the library.
The annual sale offers an opportunity for readers to browse a wide selection of gently used books while supporting the Jefferson Public Library. “Whether you’re looking for your next great read, a book to add to your collection, or something to keep the kids entertained on a chilly fall afternoon, there will be plenty to explore,” a spokesperson said.
The sale kicks off Monday, Sept. 21, from 1 to 6 pm for Friends members only. Memberships are available in advance or at the door, so shoppers who aren’t currently members can join and enjoy the first opportunity to browse.
The sale opens to everyone Tuesday. Hours are Tuesday and Thursday, 9 am to 6 pm; Wednesday, 1 to 6 pm; Friday, 1 to 5:30 pm; and Saturday, 9 am to 1 pm. Saturday, the final day, is Bargain Day, when shoppers can fill a bag with books for just $5.
The Friends are also making shopping a little more convenient by accepting electronic payments.
All proceeds from the used book sale benefit the Jefferson Public Library, helping the Friends support library programs, services and needs throughout the year. The Friends of the Jefferson Public Library accept donations of books, board games and jigsaw puzzles year-round, making it possible for the community to continue supporting the Friends’ fundraising efforts between book sales. Items can be placed in the collection bin in the library entryway.
