American Legion post honors longtime members

The American Legion is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2019. Post 11 in Jefferson has the distinction of being the 11th post to form in Iowa.

In recognition and appreciation of post members, certificates were awarded Sept. 9 to those who have served the post for 10 or more years. One member, Don Ham, has been a member for 67 continuous years.

(Note: Membership is calculated as continuous years, not total years. Members who miss paying their dues one year begin the count again.)

The recognition was organized by post adjutant Barb Labate.
