Greene County district court, week ending Jan. 12

In Greene County district court Joseph Robert Hupp, 24, of Scranton was granted a deferred judgment after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana- first offense. Hupp was placed on informal probation for one year. He must pay a $315 civil penalty, a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative (LEI) surcharge, a $10 surcharge for drug abuse resistance education (DARE) and $100 court costs. (Sentencing: Honorable Adria A. Ryan Douglas Bushore, 28, of Ames was sentenced Jan. 10 after he changed his plea to guilty to three separate charges. On a charge of burglary- third degree he was sentenced to two years in prison. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation for tow years. He was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge; both were suspended. On a charge of unauthorized use of credit card under $1,000 Bushore was sentenced to two years in prison consecutive to the first. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation for two years. He was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge; both were suspended. On a charge of identity theft under $1,000 Bushore received an identical sentence. A charge of ongoing criminal conduct and seven counts each of unauthorized use of credit card and identity theft were dismissed. In all, Bushore must pay victim restitution to be determined, $750 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees, and $120 court costs. A case in magistrate court in which he was charged with identity theft- two counts was dismissed. Court costs in that case were $181. (Sentencing: Kester)

A judgment was entered against Fashion Marie Foster, 42, of Perry on a charge of theft- fourth degree. She was fined $315 with a $110.25 surcharge and a $125 LEI surcharge. She must pay $125 victim restitution, $400 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $121 court costs. (Sentencing: Kester)

Donald Gene Wallace, 78, of Churdan was fined $1,000 after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license revoked. He must also pay a $350 surcharge and a $10 surcharge for DARE. Court costs were $100. (Sentencing: Kester)

Alauna Nicole Sellers, 23, of Granger was granted a deferred judgment after she pleaded guilty to a charge of domestic abuse assault causing injury- first offense. She was placed on informal probation for one year and must complete a batterers education program at her own expense. She must pay a $315 civil penalty, $60 restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees and $138 court costs. (Sentencing: Kester)

Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignments as follows: Courtney Kern, 30, of Rippey, arson- second degree; Amanda Sue Fitzsimmons, 35, no home town given, prohibited acts- attempt to collect winnings from gambling game with intent to defraud, false reporting of financial transaction, and fraudulent practice- second degree; John H. Berg, 60, of Churdan, operating while intoxicated- first offense; Lester Leroy Johns, 60, of Scranton, driving while license revoked; and Howard James Natzel, 59, of Minneapolis, MN, operating without owner’s consent. Trial dates were set for Feb. 28 in every case.

Information is available since the return of arrest warrants that Faith Barnes, 34, of Pleasant Hill and Steven Lloyd Sellers, 46, of Ankeny have been charged with fraudulent practice- second degree, false reporting of a financial transaction, and unlawful betting- winnings over $500 but less than $1,000. The warrants were issued Nov. 8 and returned Jan. 4.

A case was initiated in district court against Scott Andrew Cram, 29, of Jefferson on a charge of OWI- first offense.
