A message from GCNO publisher Tori Riley

Hello, readers.

If you haven’t already read my recap of 2016 and preview of 2017 under the News tab, go back and take a look. 2016 was a good year in Greene County. It was also a good year for GreeneCountyNewsOnline, and you can help make 2017 even better.

During 2016, there were more than 540 posts under the News tab and another 364 posts under the Features tab. Stories ranged from tragic to amusing, with uncounted community issues and events between. You found balanced family-appropriate coverage.

More than 79,000 users visited and checked out nearly 948,000 pages. GreeneCountyNewsOnline crossed the 2 million mark on page views during the year just past.

And, it was all free. GreeneCountyNewsOnline is, and always will be, a free news source focusing on Greene County. Advertisers allow that to happen.

Everyone who donates to GCNO in January will receive a 2017 desk calendar as a ‘thank you.’

You, too, can help assure the long term viability of GCNO. Scroll down the ad rail to the “Donate” button and make a donation to GCNO. Or, mail a donation to PO Box 343, Jefferson, IA  50129. Reader donations provide not only financial support, but also encouragement and affirmation of the benefit of providing news at no charge.

Now through the end of January, all reader donations will be acknowledged with a 2017 desk calendar featuring pictures of favorite events and places in Greene County. The calendar is a convenient size and is a nice reminder to check GreeneCountyNewsOnline often, not only on Wednesday Newsday and Good News Sunday, but every day of the week.

I hope all your news is good news in 2017.

Tori Riley, publisher/editor
