Busy week for FFA

The Greene County FFA has had a busy schedule this past week. The chapter participated in a trapshoot contest in Denison, Deal’s Fall Festival with a petting zoo, a Livestock judging contest at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, and the Greenhand Fire-up in Atlantic.

Trap shooting competition – Seven Greene County FFA members attended an FFA trap shooting event on Oct. 8 put on by the Denison FFA, hosted at the Crawford County Shooting Sports Lodge. Petting zoo – The local Greene County FFA chapter sponsored a petting zoo at the Deal’s Orchard Fall Festival Oct. 8-9. About 20 members helped with the event. Pictured is Carly Brown helping children pet a baby pig, part of the petting zoo exhibit.

Livestock judging – Eight FFA members competed at a large livestock judging contest on Oct. 11 at Kirkwood Community College. Representing Greene County FFA were (from left) Brock Badger, Logan Brophy, Will Duff, Cole Betts, CJ Muir, Mason Burkett, Brock Weubker and Abby Badger. Special congratulations to Will Duff, who placed 50th out of 291 individuals competing.

Greenhand FIre-Up – Twenty first year members attended the southwest district Greenhand Fire-Up event hosted by the Atlantic FFA on Oct. 12. At this event new FFA members learned about leadership, opportunities in FFA, and met other FFA members from their district.
