Busy week for FFA

The Greene County FFA has had a busy schedule this past week. The chapter participated in a trapshoot contest in Denison, Deal’s Fall Festival with a petting zoo, a Livestock judging contest at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, and the Greenhand Fire-up in Atlantic.

A.P.E. part of NeuterMania

Animal Protection and Education (A.P.E.)of Paton will be at the Great Iowa Pet Expo next Saturday at the Iowa State Fairgrounds, varied industries building. A.P.E. will do a ‘neuter-a-tom” event. Cats will receive a neuter, rabies and FVRCP vaccines, flea treatments, microchip ID and ear mite treatment. Cost is $30.

Weather data, week ending Oct. 14

Jefferson residents had a bit of summer and a reminder of the coming winter during the week ending Oct. 14. KCCI’s SchoolNet 8 reports a high temperature of 81 degrees and the first freeze of the season – 32 degrees in the early hours of Thursday. Jefferson received just .09 inch of rain, allowing harvest to progress.
