‘Silence Hides Violence’ a success

silence hides violence _3 (2)A group of 40 seventh and eighth graders and their parents and guardians attended “Silence Hides Violence: Building Up Relationships, Tearing Down Abuse” March 4 at the Webb House.

Resources and opening conversations between parents and their teens were presented, many through games. The topics were to help smooth transition to high school and included bullying, cyber safety, dating abuse, harassment, peer pressure and substance abuse.

Organizers thanked the following presenters, donors and volunteers for making the evening a success: ACCESS, GCCADV, BIG (Bully Project of Greene County), New Opportunities, Greene County public health, Greene County sheriff’s office, Jefferson police department, Russ Goebel – probation/parole, SOTPII, Greene County Clergy, Hy-Vee, Jefferson First United Methodist Church and Webb House, Homestead Bakery and Coffee, Ram Restaurant, Bunkers Dunkers, Greene County High School student volunteers, Greene County Extension; and many individual volunteers.
