Banners celebrating the Greene County courthouse’s 2017 centennial and the 2016 50th birthday of the Mahany Memorial Carillon Tower will fly soon from light poles around Jefferson’s downtown square.

The Greene County supervisors agreed to join the city of Jefferson in launching the banners. The county will pay about $3,500 for two sets of brackets on 12 poles from which the centennial banners will hang on the courthouse side of the square. The county will pay $1,100 for printing the 2-foot-by-3-foot flags, which will feature the Courthouse100 logo.

Banners funded by the city featuring the still-to-be-designed Bell Tower anniversary logo will hang from the streetside brackets.
