Marianne Carlson of Jefferson rose to the occasion to win first place and a $75 cash award in the Superior Whole Grain Breads with Red Star Platinum Yeast competition, judged Aug. 20 at the 2015 Iowa State Fair.
Entries were judged on shape, crust, texture and flavor.
Lynn Jeffers of Jefferson received second place and $100 in the Gold Medal Flour Cookie contest judged Aug. 21.
