Schroeder – Evan Schroeder of Jefferson was awarded the Bloemendaal Organ and the Stennsma music scholarships at Dordt College. He is a junior majoring in music with an emphasis in church music.

Carman, Bardole – Central College junior Elizabeth Carman of Jefferson and senior Schylar Bardole of Rippey received the Recognition of Achievement in Speech Communication from the Iowa Communication Association. Recipients from four-year colleges must have completed at least 18 credits of coursework with a GPA of at least 3.25 in those courses, which include public speaking, journalism, interpersonal communication, intercultural communication, oral interpretation, organizational communication, persuasion, communication ethics and public relations.

Stein – Kayla Stein of Jefferson was named to the president’s list at Drake University for the spring 2014 semester. Students on the president’s list earned a 4.0 grade point average.

Drake University tells dean’s list – Area students were named to the dean’s list (3.5-3.99 gpa) for the spring 2014 semester as follows: of Jefferson, Levi Larson and Jeffrey Skalla; of Coon Rapids, Karly Grettenberg; and of Jamaica, Molly Nelson.

Buena Vista University Graduate and Professional Studies tells dean’s lists – Area students named to the dean’s list (3.5-3.99 gpa) for the BVU Graduate and Professional Studies programs for the spring 2014 semester include: of Churdan, Brian Minnehan, Ottumwa location, and Mary Jo Koch, Fort Dodge location; of Scranton, Misty Bettey, Denison location; and of Jefferson, Kelly Olson, Fort Dodge location.

Gilley, Onken – Malarie Gilley of Grand Junction and Wesley Onken of Jefferson were named to the dean’s list (3.5-3.99 gpa) for the spring 2014 semester at Buena Vista University.
