IRGC hears pitch for casino in Jefferson

Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation, with members from all parts of the county, teamed with Wild Rose Entertainment president and CEO Tom Timmons in a presentation for the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission Thursday. A  large part of the presentation was a video featuring a total of 27 persons, 25 of them Greene County residents. The first segment tells the story of how the casino project began. It features Rex Durlam on harmonica accompanied by Rick Morain on the piano.

Another segment tells of the impact a casino could have on the “younger” folks.

The Racing and Gaming Commission will visit Greene County and Jefferson May 29. There will be a public meeting, and time for comments on the project, at a meeting that afternoon at the Sierra Community Theatre. A decision about the casino license is expected June 12.
