Sheriff’s office, JPD tell sTEP activity

The Greene County sheriff’s office and the Jefferson police department worked special Traffic Enforcement Projects (sTEP) July 1-7.

Sheriff’s deputies report making one arrest for operating while intoxicated (OWI) during that time. Deputies issued 18 citations for speeding, one for a stop sign violation, one for driving with a suspended license, and three other citations.

Deputies issued 18 warnings for speed, one for a stop sign violation, three for driving with a suspended license, two for registration violations, one other warning, and three warnings for failure to have insurance.

They responded to one accident with property damage, made one narcotics arrest, and assisted six motorists.

JPD officers also arrested one driver for OWI. The issued nine citations as follows: seat belt, one; speed, one; driving without a license, one; driving with a suspended or revoked license, two; registration violation, one; open container of alcohol in a vehicle, one; and equipment violations, two.

Officers issued 51 warnings as follows: seat belt, seven; speed, six; stop sign violation, two; driving without a license, one; driving with a suspended or revoked license, one; registration violations, six; dark windows, five; equipment violations, 10; no proof of insurance, eight; and other traffic violations, five.

Officers conducted one interdiction/canine search and served one arrest warrant.
