Following are excerpts of activities reported by the Jefferson police department:
Tuesday, Sept. 30: At 3:54 pm an officer picked up an abandoned bicycle from the middle school and transported it to the city impound lot.
Monday, Sept. 29: At 1:51 pm a resident reported a white van driving around the block in the 700 block of S. Maple Street. At 3:30 pm an officer investigated a backing collision in the east parking lot at the Greene County High School. Courtney Schmidt was backing a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox from a parking stall at the same time Vicki Gustafson was backing up in a 2010 Ford Fusion. The rear bumpers on the two vehicles made contact, causing an estimated $500 in damage to both vehicles. At 3:56 pm an officer investigated a two vehicle collision at W. Washington and N. Vine Streets. Brian Wilson was eastbound on Washington St. Margorie Shaffer had been southbound on Vine St and had stopped at the stop sign at Washington St. The two vehicles collided within the intersection causing an estimated $2,000 damage to Wilson’s 2003 Dodge Caravan vehicle and $1,000 in damage to Shaffer’s vehicle (make and model not specified) which was towed from the scene. Shaffer was cited for failure to obey a stop sign. At 9:37 pm a complainant reported unwanted criminal mischief related to homecoming in the 300 block of Edgewood Ave.
Sunday, Sept. 28: at 2:28 pm a complainant reported criminal mischief to a trampoline in the 300 block of S. Elm Street. At 8:16 pm an officer was advised of a deer that had been struck by a truck at S. Elm St and Ram Drive. The officer removed the animal from the roadway. At 8:59 pm an officer was advised of criminal mischief related to homecoming in the 900 block of S. Elm St. At 9:22 pm an officer was advised of criminal mischief related to homecoming in the 400 block of S. Chestnut St.
Saturday, Sept. 27: At 9:52 pm a complainant reported the theft of a DVD from a residence in the 600 block of S. Wilson. At 10:10 pm Union Pacific railroad personnel reported trespass on the railroad tracks at the Cedar St railroad crossing. The two subjects were not located by the officer. At 10:35 p a complainant reported an assault to her 15-year-old son that occurred in the 1800 block of N. Elm St. Charges are pending.
Friday, Sept. 26: At 4:30 am a complainant reported a vehicle parked in the 300 block of N. Olive Street with broken out windows. The officer determined the vehicle to be one that had been stolen Sept. 22 from the 600 block of N. Locust Street. The incident remains under investigation. At 6:49 am a complainant reported a vehicle stolen from a garage in the 300 block of W. State St. The incident remains under investigation. At 7:24 am a complainant reported a burglary to a garage in the 200 block of E. Clark St. Tools had been taken. Estimated loss was $1,400. The incident remains under investigation. At 08:03 am a complainant reported the theft of tires and rims from 701 N. Cedar Street. Estimated loss was $2,340. The incident remains under investigation. At 11:36 am officers executed a search warrant at 500 E. Clark St for tires and rims reported stolen from 701 N. Cedar St. Upon executing the search warrant a stolen vehicle, parts from a second stolen vehicle and tools from several recent burglaries in Jefferson were observed. A second search warrant was applied for and executed later in the day at the same residence. Charges are pending completion of the investigation. At 3:21 pm a complainant a burglary to a shop at 201 S. Cedar St. Several cordless drills and Sawzalls were reported to have been taken. At 3:41 pm a complainant reported criminal mischief to a vehicle at 307 W. Greenewood Road. At 5:45 pm a complainant reported trespass at an apartment in the 300 block of S. Wilson.
Thursday, Sept. 25: At 9:38 pm an officer checked on a possible prowler in the 100 block of N. Olive St.
Wednesday, Sept. 24: At 2:16 am an officer responded to a report of a house being struck by lightning and a subsequent fire at 1306 Southfield Drive. At 10:55 am a complainant reported someone ringing her doorbell at 308 W. Greenewood Road during the overnight hours. The department has received several complaints of this nature in the Greenewood Homes area during the last several months. A suspect has been identified regarding these incidents. The investigation into the matter continues at this time. At 3:36 pm a complainant reported a burglary to a shop in the 800 block of N. Wilson that occurred overnight on Sept. 22. Several power tools to include an air compressor were taken. At 9:55 pm the owner reported forgery at Excuses restaurant. An investigation was initiated. Charges are expected to be filed in the near future.
Tuesday, Sept. 23: At 2:08 pm a complainant reported the theft of a weed eater and air compressor from a garage in the 300 block of N. Maple St. At 6:32 pm a complainant reported the theft of a DVD from a residence in the 600 block of S. Wilson St.
Monday, Sept. 22: At 6:36 am a complainant reported the theft of a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier from a residence in the 600 block of N. Locust St. The theft had occurred during the overnight hours. At 5:50 pm a complainant reported harassment by a known person at a residence in the 600 block of W. Washington St. At 11:37 pm while locking restrooms in the parks, an officer found criminal mischief to the restrooms at Head Park.
Sunday, Sept. 21: At 8:15 am a complainant reported criminal mischief to a vehicle window in the 200 block of E. Adams St. At 9:08 pm a complainant reported harassment and criminal mischief to her vehicle by two known females. The officer is investigating. Pursuant to a search warrant that was executed at 702 North Cedar Street on July 15, 2013, warrants have been issued for two Jefferson residents. Scott Dean Brackett, 49, of Jefferson, was charged with, possession of controlled substance (marijuana)- third offense (aggravated misdemeanor) and possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine)-first offense (serious misdemeanor)*. Shirley Ann Henry, 45, of Jefferson was charged with possession of a controlled substance (marijuana)-first offense (serious misdemeanor) and possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine)- first offense (serious misdemeanor)*.
Saturday, Sept. 20: At 9:29 pm a complainant reported a theft from the porch of his residence in the 700 block of N. Cedar St.
Friday, Sept. 19: While patrolling the Greene County High School football game, officers were advised by school faculty of an assault that had occurred. The officer’s investigation led to a juvenile criminal charge of assault-simple being sent to the juvenile court for Shanda Marie Madison, 16, of Grand Junction.*
Thursday, Sept. 18: At 7:52 a complainant reported possible criminal mischief to a residence in the 300 block of N. Locust St. At 9:43 am a complainant reported being harassed at an apartment in the 1000 block of W. Adams St. At 3:02 pm a JPD officer assisted a probation officer with a home visit. Gary Sinkuler, 45, of Jefferson was arrested on an outstanding Greene County warrant for probation violation.* At 6:13 pm a complainant reported finding graffiti spray painted on a building in the 300 block of W. McKinley St.
Wednesday, Sept. 17: At 11:59 am an officer investigated a two vehicle motor vehicle collision in the Greene County Community Center parking lot. Charity Smith had parked a van owned by Region XXII Council of Governments in a no parking zone along the sidewalk on the north end of the parking lot. Valerie Ogren attempted to back a vehicle from the farthest north parking stall on the west side of the parking lot, but the back of her vehicle struck the front of the van. Damage to Ogren’s 2005 Buick LeSabre was estimated at $200. Damage to Region XII’s 2002 Dodge Caravan was estimated at $1,500. No citations were issued as the incident occurred out of the roadway right of way. At 12:17 pm a complainant reported a theft from a vehicle while parked in the Greene County high school parking lot. At 3:30 pm an officer investigated a backing collision in the 200 block of S. Chestnut St. Bridgett Allen backed a 2007 GMC Yukon from a parking space in front of the Fieldhouse. In doing so, Allen struck a 2007 Volkswagen owned by Karen Voge-Perkins. The Volkswagen was parked facing north on Chestnut St. Allen was cited for unsave backing upon a highway. Damage to Voge-Perkins’ vehicle was estimated at $300. Damage to Allen’s Yukon was determined to be $1,000. At 4:08 pm upon the completion of an investigation of an assault that was reported Sept. 15 in the 200 block of W. Washington St, an officer issued a warrant charging Jacob Thomas Monthei, 16, of Jefferson with assault – serious misdemeanor*. Monthei was taken into custody and was additionally cited for minor using tobacco – third offense after the officer found him in possession of tobacco products*. Custody of Monthei was turned over to Juvenile Court Services. At 9:45 pm a complainant reported harassment which occurred at Oly’s Corner. The incident remains under investigation at this time.
Tuesday, Sept. 16: At 7:52 am a possible sexual assault involving a minor female was reported. An investigation was initiated. At 3:16 pm a complainant reported gang graffiti painted on a cement wall under the overpass. Pursuant to a search warrant executed on Nov. 15, 2013, at a residence in the 400 block of N. Olive St, warrants have been issued charging Heather Thelma Ott, 33, of Jefferson with conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance (class C felony), possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine (serious misdemeanor) and possession of drug paraphernalia (simple misdemeanor)*. Warrants were also issued charging Frederick James Lonsdale, 41, of Rippey with conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance (class C felony), possession of a controlled substance (marijuana) – third or subsequent offense (aggravated misdemeanor), possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) – third or subsequent offense (class D felony) and possession of drug paraphernalia (simple misdemeanor)*.
Monday, Sept. 15: At 8:22 pm a complainant reported her 15-year-old grandson had been assaulted by another juvenile in a parking lot in the 200 block of W. Washington Street. The incident remains under investigation at this time.

Saturday, Sept. 13: At 2:24 am a complainant reported the theft of a bicycle from a residence in the 400 block of E. McKinley St. At 6:45 pm a complainant reported damage to the door on a 2005 Dodge Magnum. Someone had dented a door on the vehicle with another car door causing an estimated $500 in damage.
Friday, Sept. 12: At 3:15 pm a complainant reported the theft of Persian rugs valued at $10,000 from an apartment in the 100 block of E. State St. At 4:21 pm a complainant reported the theft of a registration sticker off a vehicle in the 700 block of N. Wilson.
Thursday, Sept. 11: At 1:16 pm staff at Genesis Development spoke to an officer regarding a possible theft.
Wednesday, Sept. 10: Routine activity reported.
Tuesday, Sept. 9: At 9:17 am a complainant reported a domestic disturbance taking place at a residence in the 300 block of S. Wilson. The officer’s investigation resulted in him arresting Kimberly Ann Mustang, 35, of Jefferson, on an outstanding warrant out of Dallas County for failure to appear on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence.* The officer additionally charged Mustang with domestic abuse assault – aggravated misdemeanor, false imprisonment – serious misdemeanor and harassment – aggravated misdemeanor*. Mustang was transported to the Greene County jail where she remained held. At 9:28 am an employee of MHF Engineering reported a vehicle had struck a water line valve at the Hy-Vee construction site the previous evening. At 9:36 am a complainant reported the theft of seven sheets of plywood from a garage in the 200 block of E. Washington St.
Monday, Sept. 8: At 11:40 am a complainant reported a female causing a disturbance in the 300 block of W. Reed St. Upon the officer’s arrival he observed the complainant pulling the female out of a camper in the back yard. When the female saw the officer she took off running. Nastassia Goff, 29, was found hiding in a neighboring garage. Goff was taken into custody for an active warrant for probation violation. Additional charges filed were trespass and interference with official acts*. At 3:24 pm officers assisted the sheriff’s office with an arrest in the 400 block of S. Cedar Street.

Saturday, Sept. 6: At 3:45 pm a complainant reported a bicycle stolen from Washington Park.
Friday, Sept. 5: At 4:02 pm an officer took a report of graffiti spray painted on the side of a business at 104 E. State St. At 6:33 pm a complainant reported a 2001 Lincoln Continental had been struck by an unknown vehicle while parked in the parking lot at the Greene County Medical Center. There was approximately $500 in damage done.
Thursday, Sept. 4: At 8:32 am an employee at Kum and Go reported a television had been dumped at the business. The officer identified the person responsible. Charges are pending. At 3:06 pm a complainant reported criminal mischief at a residence in the 600 block of S. Oak St. Graffiti had been painted on the garage and a vehicle bumper had been scratched. The incident remains under investigation. At 5:09 pm an officer was advised of a possible intoxicated driver which was approaching Jefferson on County Road E-53. The officer observed the vehicle and stopped it in the 600 block of S. Cedar Street. Stacia Day, 26, of Ames, was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence – first offense, child endangerment (aggravated misdemeanor), driving while suspended (simple misdemeanor)and failure to prove security against liability*. At 6:09 pm a complainant reported trespass at a residence in the 200 block of N. Oak St.
Wednesday, Sept. 3: At 7:58 am an officer was advised of a low hanging power line in the 200 block of W. Perry St. A pole was found to be leaning. Bruce Binkley told the officer he was moving a dump truck and accidently struck the pole. Alliant Energy was contacted. Binkley was cited for failure to maintain control. At 11:25 am a complainant reported a door standing open on the vacant house at 106 S. Grimmell Road. Upon the officer’s arrival, he thought he heard movement within the house. Additional officers were called to investigate. No one was found inside. A caretaker was contacted to secure the door. At 1:51 pm an officer took a complaint of the theft of money using a debit card. At 7:20 pm a backpack that had been found in the alley in the 400 block of E. Lincoln Way was turned in at the LEC.
Tuesday, Sept. 2: At 12:28 pm Samantha Pedersen reported being involved in a collision at Chestnut and Russell Streets at about 8 am. Information was exchanged between the drivers and they had departed the scene. At 3:01 pm a Department of Natural Resources officer requested assistance in locating the operator of a dirt bike that had been trespassing on others’ property near Hillcrest and 245th St in Jackson Township. At 4:33 pm an officer investigated a two vehicle collision at W. Central Ave and N. Elm St. Nelson Carman was southbound on Elm driving a pickup truck and pulling a trailer. Gertrude Boer was westbound on Central. She stopped as posted. As she attempted to turn left onto Elm, she struck Carman’s trailer. Boer told the officer she didn’t see the trailer due to sun in her eyes. She was cited for failure to obey a stop sign. Damage to her 2008 Ford 500 was estimated at $2,300. Carman’s 2013 H and H trailer sustained an estimated $2,500 in damage. His 2001 Chevrolet pickup truck was not damaged.
Monday, Sept. 1: At 12:19 am a complainant reported the theft of a vehicle from a residence in the 500 block of E. Clark St. The vehicle was later recovered in a ditch north of Perry on Colfax Ave. The incident remains under investigation.
