Greene County 4-H Youth Development announces a full lineup of summer programming opportunities for youth in 2026. With a variety of engaging, hands-on experiences, this year’s offerings are designed to provide fun, learning, and skill-building for youth of all ages.
Summer Day Camps are open to all youth, regardless of 4-H enrollment. These camps provide a welcoming environment for young people to explore new interests, build friendships, and stay active during the summer months. Programs are offered for youth in kindergarten through 12th grade and take place throughout June, July, and early August.
In addition to camps, Greene County 4-H is offering a wide range of 4-H Project Workshops. These workshops are specifically designed for youth enrolled in 4-H or Clover Kids and focus on developing skills within specific project areas. Participants will have the opportunity to work alongside local businesses and community experts to create high-quality projects they can exhibit at the county fair.
“Our goal is to create opportunities for all youth to learn by doing,” said Samantha Hardaway, Greene County youth coordinator. “Whether a young person is new to 4-H, already enrolled, or just thinking about it, there is something for everyone this summer.”
New this year, Greene County 4-H expanded its programming by offering multiple sessions of select camps and workshops. This approach has helped reduce waitlists and allowed more youth to participate in popular programs.
While several sessions have already filled, spaces are still available in many camps and workshops, and waitlists are being accepted for full programs. Additional sessions may be added based on demand.
Registration is only accepted via email, and spots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Families interested in registering should email hardaway@iastate.edu. Full details, including dates, times, locations, and costs, can be found on the official program flyer.
Most programs will be held at the Greene County Extension Office unless otherwise noted. Participants attending full-day sessions should bring a lunch, and snacks and materials will be provided. Financial assistance is available to ensure all youth have access to these opportunities.
