Greene County district court, week ending Jan. 27

In Greene County district court Curtis Patrick Carr, 49, of Sioux City was sentenced Jan. 27 to five years in prison after he pleaded guilty to a charge of theft- second degree. The prison term was suspended. H was fined $1,025 with a $153.75 surcharge; both were suspended. Carr also pleaded guilty to a charge of criminal mischief- fourth degree, amended from criminal mischief- third degree. He was sentenced to 71 days in jail, concurrent to sentences in Story, Polk and Dallas counties. The Greene County jail term was suspended. He was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge. Carr must pay restitution not to exceed $1,000 for his court appointed attorney’s fee and $287.38 court costs. A charge of burglary- third degree was dismissed. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. Troy Richard Dougherty, 51, of Ames was sentenced to two years in prison after he pleaded guilty to a charge of fraudulent practice- third degree, amended from fraudulent practice- second degree. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. He was fined $855 with a $128,.25 surcharge. Court costs were $100. A charge of gambling- avoid set-off was dismissed. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Cindy Lou Muennich, 55, of National City, CA, was sentenced to 180 days in jail after she pleaded guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated- first offense, amended from operating while intoxicated- second offense. All but two days of the jail term was suspended and she was placed on probation to the Greene County sheriff for one year. She may complete the Des Moines Area Community College 48-hour alcohol education program in lieu of the jail time. She must complete a community college drinking driver’s school, and she must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended training at her own expense. She was fined $1,250 with a $187.50 surcharge; one-half will be waived if she obtains a temporary restricted license. She must pay an amount not to exceed $600 restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees and $100 court costs. A charge of possession of marijuana was dismissed. (Sentencing: McCarville)

A judgment for a $105 fine with a $15.75 surcharge was entered against Roberto Villarreal, 67, of Perry on a charge of reckless driving, amended from operating while intoxicated. Court costs were $100. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Alejandro Flores, 30, of Des Moines was sentenced to one year in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated- second offense. All but seven days of the jail sentence was suspended and he was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. Flores was fined $1,875 with a $281.25 surcharge. Court costs were $100. Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: Ashley Marie Kuenster, 32, of Gilbert, possession of methamphetamine- third offense, possession of marijuana- third offense, and theft- first degree; and Kenneth Eugene Hardman, 47, of Jefferson, sex offender registry violation. Trial dates were set for April 4 in both cases.

A case was initiated Jan. 17 against Dillon Wayne Davis, 24, of Glidden on a charge of operating while intoxicated- third offense.
