The 16-year-old student who took is accused of taking a gun and ammunition to Greene County High School has been charged as an adult in Greene County district court.
Jace Wilson is charged with carrying weapons on school grounds, a Class D felony, and harassment- first degree, an aggravated misdemeanor.
According to court documents, Jefferson police officers were called to the high school Friday, May 20, for a report of a student having a gun in his vehicle in the student parking lot and threatening another student with it.
The student who had been threatened provided the officers with the make and model of the other student’s vehicle, as well as his license plate number.
One of the responding officers went to the south parking lot looking for the vehicle. Moments later, the vehicle was driven into the parking lot. The officer approached the driver, who was identified as Jace Wilson, and asked if there were any weapons in the vehicle. Wilson told the officer there was a shotgun in the back seat. The officer located the gun, covered by a blanket, and upon further search, he found shotgun shells inside the passenger compartment.
While the officer was in the parking lot, the other responding officer continued interviewing the complainant. The complainant said Wilson had thrown a mango at his vehicle at the school. Wilson then allegedly pulled out a knife, began peeling a mango, and threw peelings at the complainant’s vehicle. Wilson allegedly threatened to stab the complainant with the knife. When the complainant replied that he wasn’t afraid of a knife, Wilson allegedly displayed the shotgun in front of the complainant and then put it back in his car.
All charges are merely an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
