Greene County district court, week ending May 13

In Greene County district court disposition was entered against Raymond Tillman Bacon, 45, of Grand Junction after he pleaded guilty to guilty to three counts of domestic abuse assault causing bodily injury or mental illness, amended from sex abuse- third degree. He was sentenced to 60 days in jail on each count, with the sentences concurrent. He must complete the Iowa domestic abuse program. He was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge and a $90 domestic abuse surcharge on each count. The court ruled he is unable to pay court costs. (Sentencing: Honorable Angela L. Doyle)

Kelsey Jean Brooks, 35, of Des Moines was sentenced to seven days in jail with credit for time served after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana. She was fined $105 with a $15.75 surcharge. She must pay $652.11 restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees and $215.06 court costs. A charge against Brooks in magistrate court of possession of drug paraphernalia was dismissed. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)

Jorge Antonio Palacios, 39, of Solvag, CA, was sentenced to 10 years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of theft- first degree habitual offender. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation to the Iowa Department of Correctional Services for 2-5 years. He was fined $1,370 with a $205.50 surcharge. He must also pay $11,600 restitution to Wild Rose Casino for a loss the casino incurred after he stole an ATM. The court found Palacios unable to pay restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees or court costs. Charges of theft- second degree habitual offender and criminal mischief- second degree habitual offender were dismissed. (Sentencing: Doyle)

Zachery Waters-Rice, 25, of Jefferson was sentenced to 90 days in jail after he pleaded guilty to a charge of domestic abuse assault causing bodily injury, amended from domestic abuse assault impeding blood/air flow causing bodily injury. After he serves seven days of the jail sentence the remainder will be suspended and he will be placed on probation to the Iowa Department of Correctional Services for two years. He must complete a batterers treatment program at his own expense. Waters-Rice was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge and a $90 domestic abuse surcharge. Court costs were $199.50. Jeremy Thomas Naberhaus, 35, of Carroll was sentenced to 10 days in jail with credit for time served after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license barred. He was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge; both were suspended. He must pay $600 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $100 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)

A case against Destiny Rene McDonald, 23, of Breda on a charge of possession of marijuana was dismissed in the interest of justice. The case was initiated 12/03/2018; an arrest warrant for McDonald was returned 5/03/2022.

Brian J. Clausen, 44, of Grand Junction pleaded not guilty May 6 to a charge of domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness. A trial date was set for July 19.

Cases were initiated in district court during the week ending May 13 as follows: Michael David Teeples, 28, of Jefferson, intimidation with dangerous weapon, assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, false imprisonment, and prostitution; Makelia Rose Ranee Brown, 21, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana and possession with intent to deliver marijuana not more than 50 kg; and Harvick Beals, 19, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana and possession with intent to deliver marijuana not more than 50 kg.
