In Greene County district court Jennifer Marie Ashby, 48, of Jefferson was sentenced May 12 to one year in jail after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of theft- third degree. All but two days of the jail sentence was suspended and she was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. She was fined $855 with a $128.55 surcharge. She must pay victim restitution to be determined. In a separate case, Ashby pleaded guilty to a charge of criminal mischief- fifth degree, amended from criminal mischief- fourth degree. She must pay $137.50 victim restitution, and she was fined $105 with a $15.75 surcharge. The court found her unable to pay restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees and court costs. Charges of harassment- first degree and trespass causing injury or damage exceeding $500 were dismissed. (Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)
Andrew Lee Jensen, 38, of Jefferson was sentenced to 15 years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of possession methamphetamine- third or subsequent offense. That case was initiated in October 2020. No monetary judgment was entered against him. Charges of possession of contraband in a correction institution and attempted burglary- second degree were dismissed. In a case against Jensen that was initiated in December 2020, also on a charge of possession of a controlled substance- third or subsequent offense, Jensen was sentenced to five years in prison, concurrent to sentence in the earlier case. He was fined $750 with a $112.50 surcharge; both were suspended. The court found him unable to pay restitution for his court appointed attorney’s costs and court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Ashley Marie Kuenster, 31, of Des Moines was sentenced April 9 to 60 days in jail after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana- second offense. The jail time was suspended and she was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. She must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at her own expense. Kuenster was fined $855 with a $128.15 surcharge. Court costs were $100. Corey Allen Mutum, 26, of Carroll was fined $300 with a $45 surcharge after he pleaded guilty to a charge of theft- fifth degree, amended from theft- fourth degree. He must pay victim restitution to be determined and $60 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Justin Ray Lopez, 23, of Jefferson was sentenced May 12 to one year in prison after he pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana- second offense, amended from possession of marijuana- third or subsequent offense. The prison term is consecutive to prison terms on two counts in an earlier Greene County case, and concurrent to a term on another count in that case and one count in a third Greene County case. Lopez was fined $315 with a $47.25 surcharge. He must pay an amount not to exceed $600 in court appointed attorney’s fees and court costs.
In another case, Lopez was sentenced to five years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of flight to avoid prosecution. The prison term is consecutive to the aforementioned terms. Lopez was fined $1,025 with a $153.75 surcharge; both were suspended. He must pay $135 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignments as follows: Jonathan Phillip Michael Kennedy, 33, of Bagley, burglary- second degree; Paul Erick Waugh, 58, of Radcliffe, theft- first degree, dependent adult abuse/exploitation greater than $100, and ongoing criminal conduct; and Joshua Paul Morgera, 23, of Papillon, NE, assault on person in certain occupation- two counts. Trial dates were set for July 20 for Kennedy and Morgera, and for Aug. 24 for Waugh.
Information is available since the return of an arrest warrant that Jason Lee Montgomery, 39, of Grand Junction has been charged with burglary- third degree and burglary- third degree motor vehicle. The warrants were issued in January and returned May 13. Austin Damian Wolfe, 23, of Des Moines has been charged with harassment- second degree. A warrant was issued in February and returned April 28. Tanisha May Dillinger, 39, of Perry has been charged with a controlled substance violation and ongoing criminal conduct- influence enterprise. The warrant was issued Mary 26 and returned May 11.
Cases were initiated in district courts as follows: Jay Allen Alexander, 58, of Boone, gambling- false claim on winnings; Brian Joshua Rongven, 40, of Gowrie, driving while license barred; and Mark Haase, 36, of Ogden, two separate cases in which he is charged with domestic abuse assault- second offense.
