Greene County district court, week ending Jan. 29

In Greene County district court Chanze Jay Bushman, 19, of Scranton was granted a deferred judgment Jan. 25 after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of child endangerment. He was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. He must pay a $625 civil penalty and restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees not to exceed $500. Samantha Nicole Joy, 23, of Scranton was granted a deferred judgment after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of child endangerment. She was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. She must pay an $855 civil penalty and a restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees not to exceed $600. Court costs were $146.50. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Timothy R. Williams, 44, of Jefferson was sentenced to one year in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated. All but two days of the jail time was suspended and he was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. He may complete the Des Moines Area Community College 48-hour alcohol education program in lieu of the jail time. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. He was fined $1,250 with a $187.50 surcharge; one-half will be waived if he obtains a temporary restricted license. Court costs were $100.

Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: Scott Thomas Perdue, 44, of Ogden, possession of methamphetamine; Tristan Stefan Knudsen, 24, of Ames, possession of marijuana; and Deividas Xavier Guinean, 29, of Des Moines, OWI. Trial dates were set for April 6 for Perdue and Guinean, and for March 2 for Knudsen.

Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Ashley Marie Kuenster, 30, of Des Moines, possession of marijuana; and Steven Logan Dzuris, 33, of Jefferson, possession of methamphetamine- second offense.
