Greene County magistrate court, week ending May 20

In Greene County magistrate court Brittany Kay Smith of Jefferson was sentenced to 30 days in jail on a charge of domestic abuse assault, amended from domestic abuse assault – third or subsequent offense. All but two of the 30 days jail time was suspended. A judgment was entered for $100 court costs.

Jacob Eugene Day of Jefferson was fined $200 with a $75 surcharge on a citation for failure to have a valid driver’s license. Day was initially charged in district court with driving while license barred. Court costs were $143; restitution for Day’s court appointed attorney’s fees are to be determined.

Michael Eugene Hamilton of Grand Junction was found guilty of theft-fifth degree at a trial May 18. A judgment was entered for a $65 fine with a $22.75 surcharge and a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative surcharge. Court costs were $83.24.

A judgment for a $100 fine with a $35 surcharge was entered against Christina L. Owens of Jefferson on a charge of assault-simple, amended from domestic abuse assault-first offense. Court costs were $398.

A judgment for a $100 fine with a $35 surcharge was entered against Polly Kinsey of Jefferson on a charge of assault-simple, amended from domestic abuse assault-first offense. Court costs were $141.

Brenda Lea Parker of Somers was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge on a charge of consumption of alcohol in a public place. Court costs were $60.

Cases were initiated in magistrate court during the week ending May 20 as follows: Michael Lee Eastman of Jefferson, assault-simple; Joseph Ross Jabaay of Jefferson, trespass; and Kyle Cuddy of Jefferson, theft-fifth degree.

Persons paid fines for scheduled traffic violations during the week ending May 20 as follows: Neal James Seung Loutsch of Remsen, dark window or windshield, $50; and Dennis Eugene Mohr III of Carroll, no valid driver’s license $200.

Also, speed, $40 (6-10 over): Brittany Mae Jensen of Mitchellville, Dennis Matthew Gardiner of Urbandale, Daniel Joseph Reding of Des Moines, Sharon Kay Luellen of Bouton, *Karah Jean Brown of Jefferson, and Ellen Louise Morris of Bagley.

Speed, $20 (1-5 over): Clinton Joseph Scheffler of Harlan, Megan Lana Johnson of Guthrie Center, Daniel Stephen Minarsich of Des Moines, Robert P. Blomme of Audubon, Sheila Kay Allen of Stuart, Michael Kiar Williams and Bailey Paige Kanne, both of Carroll, Nathaniel W. Hoffman of Grand Junction, Clinton A. Miller and Jennifer Dement Drinkwater, both of Ames, and Steven Lynn Roe of Fort Dodge.

Commercial motor vehicle violations: James Edward Debardeleben of Imperial, MO, no proof of annual inspection, $50; and Markus Gregory Neumann of Manning, right rear turn signal inoperative, $50.

Judgments were entered against individuals for nonpayment of scheduled fines as follows (original fine listed): Daryle Dewayne Snyder Jr of Muscatine, open container of alcohol, driver, $200; Rhonda Kay Santee of Manning and Ashley Nicole Wooldridge of Davenport, speed, $20; Douglas James Bumgardner of Grand Junction, no valid driver’s license, $200; George Robert Mangels Jr of New Brighton, MN, *Jill Ranae Kanealy of Perry, speed, $40; Raymond Roosevelt Wisecup of Ogden, field or retriever meets, permit required, $20; and Christina L. Owens of Jefferson, defective or unauthorized muffler system, $20.

The judgment includes a penalty of one-half the original fine and surcharge.

Court costs were $60 on each citation unless otherwise noted.
