One-half the gate from “Loop the Lake” Sept. 10
Seniors on the Ram cross country team presented a check for $1,000 to Dan Towers and the Greene County conservation board between quarters at the homecoming football game Friday night.
The check was the conservation board’s share of the gate collected at the “Loop the Lake” cross country meet held at Spring Lake Park Sept. 10.
The meet had been held at other locations since the late 1990s, including the high school grounds with the finish line at Linduska Field. The return to Spring Lake, which gave runners more of a true “cross country” experience, drew more than 500 runners from 24 different schools in five races. A $5 per car admission was charged. More than 400 cars entered the park with an estimated 2,000-plus cross country spectators.
Seniors Ethan Woodruff, Emily Most and Sunny Mobley presented the check in appreciation for the conservation board for allowing Ram cross country to hold its meet at the park.
