Maach appointed to P-C school board

P-C board of educationThe Paton-Churdan board of education at its March 11 meeting appointed Jennifer Maach of Paton to fill a vacancy on the board created by the resignation in February of Libby Towers.

Maach has three children – daughters in third grade and pre-school and a son in kindergarten.

Greg Carey was elected to the position Maach now holds in the September 2013 school election. He resigned in September 2014 and Towers was appointed to serve the remainder of his term. Maach will hold the seat until the 2017 school election.

Also at the meeting, the board approved a new contract with the Paton-Churdan Education Association. The base pay will increase 3.97 percent, for a total package increase in cost to the district of $35,386. Superintendent Rob Olsen reported to the board that the teachers had already ratified the agreement and that they were satisfied with the negotiations.
