Bob Hurley of Jefferson will talk about his long career as an Iowa state trooper at a Greene County Historical Society meeting Friday, Oct. 2, at the Rippey Methodist Church.
Hurley served as a trooper from 1979 to 2005. He kept a journal of his experiences thoughout his career.
That journal is the basis for, “10-31 Crime in Progress,” a book he’s written about the many dangerous situations he was involved in and his encounters with people from all walks of life, plus some humorous events that took place as he patroled Iowa’s highways and byways.
He’ll regale the audience about escorting RAGBRAI across the state, as well as a few incidents that took place in Greene County.
The free program follows a noon lunch prepared by Methodist Church congregants.
