In Greene County district court Tamra Mills, 46, of Rippey was sentenced to 10 years in prison with credit for time served after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of intent to manufacture/deliver less than 5 grams of methamphetamine. The prison sentenced was suspended and a judgment was entered for a $1,000 fine with a $150 surcharge. She was sentenced to five years in prison with credit for time served on a charge of possession of a controlled substance. The prison term was suspended. She was fined $1,025 with a $157.50 surcharge; the fine and surcharge were suspended. She was sentenced to five years in prison on one count of failure to affix a drug tax stamp. The prison term was suspended. She was fined $1,025 with a $157.50 surcharge; both were suspended. The was placed on probation to the Iowa Department of Correctional Services for five years. She must reside in a residential correctional facility until she attains maximum benefits. One count of possession of a controlled substance- third or subsequent offense was dismissed, as well as one count of failure to affix a tax stamp. Mills was assessed $180 court costs. A charge of possession of marijuana against Lorena Andrade, 28, of Perry was dismissed with $100 court costs after she was granted a deferred judgment in magistrate court on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. In that case she must pay a $150 civil penalty and she was placed on probation to the Greene County sheriff’s office for one year. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)
Persons pleaded not guilty to charges as follows: Kenneth Jay Manz, 41, of Jefferson, theft- second degree; James Duane Ure, 73, of Jefferson, assault while displaying dangerous weapon; and Liberty Ann Norgart, 23, of Grand Junction, animal neglect w/ serious injury or death, and animal torture. Trial dates were set for Dec. 8 in every case.
Information is available since the return of an arrest warrant that James Marshall Blackmon, 51, of Jefferson is charged with possession of a controlled substance- third or subsequent offense. The offense was dated July 10. The case was initiated Sept. 5 and the warrant was served Sept. 17.
