Sharon Steadman, 1941 – 2026

Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 11, at Northside Assembly of God in Jefferson for Sharon Steadman, 85, of Jefferson. Interment will be in the Jefferson Municipal Cemetery.

Sharon Faye Palmer Steadman was born August 8, 1941, at Schleswig.  Her parents were Evelyn (Anderson) and Ernest Allen Palmer.

Sharon grew up in Schleswig.  She married LeRoy Dominic Steadman on April 26, 1959, in Vail.  They moved to Earlham. Later Sharon and Lee moved to Liberal, KS, where Sharon was a part-time packer for United Van Lines Moving Company.  She was a homemaker and mother of six children. 

In 1979, Sharon and Lee moved back to Iowa and lived in Perry, then eventually moved to Jefferson.

Sharon had many hobbies including reading, crocheting, and tending her roses. Sharon also had a love for animals. She raised birds and dogs. 

Sharon and Lee loved to go dancing. Sharon listened to gospel hymns, with her favorite artist being Elvis Presley.

Family was very important to Sharon. She deeply loved her family and was always there for them.

Sharon Stedman died September 3, 2026, at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll.  She was 85 years of age.  She was preceded in death by her husband LeRoy; her parents;  brothers and sisters, and a son-in-law. 

Survivors include her children Barry (Deborah) Steadman of Jefferson, Annette Vasquez of Hutchinson, KS, Connie Steadman of Carroll,  DeAnna (Robert) Gustin of Jefferson, LeRoy Jr Steadman of Boone, and Dianna Terry of Des Moines;  21 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren, and some great-great grandchildren; and two brothers and one sister.  Services were arranged by Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home, Jefferson, 515-386-2171.
