Jefferson Matters is bringing back one of downtown Jefferson’s newest traditions as the CyHawk Tailgate returns on Thursday, Sept. 10, from 5 to 7:30 pm in downtown Jefferson. Activities will take place along Wilson and State streets, with the Plaza Stage serving as the heart of the event at the corner of the two streets. Visitors can explore the event throughout downtown while enjoying activities, food, and entertainment along the way.
Now in its second year, the CyHawk Tailgate continues the excitement and friendly rivalry that first came to Jefferson during RVTV in 2023. Organized by the Jefferson Matters team of dedicated volunteers, the event has grown into an evening designed to bring the community together, regardless of which side of the rivalry you cheer for. Hawkeyes, Cyclones, Rams fans, and everyone in between is invited to enjoy a fun night downtown with activities for all ages.
Families can enjoy inflatables, big wheel races, mini cheer performance, a kid’s talent show, and a community pep rally to wrap up the evening. Visitors can also compete (or cheer on participants!) in several crowd-favorite contests, including a food-eating competition, best dressed baby & toddler contest, and a game day sign competition (new!) open to individuals, businesses, and organizations. Those looking for a little friendly competition can also register for the bags tournament hosted by 515 Cornhole.
A variety of local food vendors will be on site throughout Wilson street, making it easy to grab dinner while enjoying the festivities downtown.
