Drop in at the Greene County Historical Museum Saturday, Aug. 29, between 9 am and noon 219 E. Lincoln for a look at a couple of Revolutionary War uniforms.
The uniforms, which are on display, were tailored in Philadelphia in1976 for the late James and Alice Ann Andrew. Andrew and his son Jim toured central Iowa during Bicentennial observances in 1976, wearing the uniforms and giving programs about the Revolutionary War.
Jim Andrew wore the uniform, including linen britches, of a backwoods farmer patriot, while his father donned an artillery officer’s formal uniform. Jim Andrew will talk about the garb and his family’s interest in American history
The event will feature 10 trivia questions about American history. There will be drawings for Jefferson Matters Main Street Money which can be spent in local stores. Refreshments will be served.
The museum is located at 219 E. Lincoln Way in Jefferson.
