3D bow shoot Saturday will benefit Greene County Squirrel Hollow Park

All bow hunters are invited to the first annual 3D bow shoot Saturday, June 6, from 10 am to 3 pm at Squirrel Hollow Park. The event is sponsored by the Friends of Greene County Iowa Parks and hosted by Greene County Conservation.

Bow enthusiasts will enjoy a 20-target 3D archery course set in the Squirrel Hollow Wildlife Area. Participants will shoot at 3D targets ranging in size from grouse and squirrels to moose and deer, scoring points as they move through the course.

Registration will be at the shelter house in the park, located at 1874 277th St, Jefferson. Food will be available onsite at the shelter house area. Course maps and yellow safety vests will be provided. Parking will be available along park roads.

The 3D bow shoot is a fundraiser for Squirrel Hollow County Park, the second oldest county park in Iowa. In recent months the county conservation board has received grant money from the Greene County Community Foundation to upgrade the water and electrical systems at Squirrel Hollow. Proceeds from the bow shoot will also go toward infrastructure needs at the park.

The fee to participate is $25 per round for adults and $15 per round for youth 18 and younger. Additional rounds are $5 each. Activity waivers (required) will be available at registration.

The Friends of Greene County Iowa Parks is a new 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization formed to support county parks. The Friends received Louis Dreyfus funding through the Greene County board of supervisors a year ago to help with purchasing targets for the event.
