Hammen elected to Iowa Extension Council Association board

Dennis Hammen of Farnhamville, retired Jefferson park and recreation director, has been elected to the board of directors of the Iowa Extension Council Association, according to Jennifer Vit, executive director of the association. Hammen is an 8-year member of the Calhoun County Extension Council and represents Region 7, which includes Buena Vista, Calhoun, Cherokee, Ida, and Sac Counties.

The Iowa Extension Council Association represents 900 council members in Iowa. At the local level, county Extension councils manage ISU Extension and Outreach programs in health and human sciences; community and economic development; agriculture and natural resources; and 4-H youth development. The 25-member association board meets regularly to discuss issues and opportunities within Iowa State University Extension and Outreach. “The association is proud to help Extension councils partner with Iowa State University to promote and strengthen local program efforts to serve Iowans,” Vit said. “Locally elected council members are key to making the partnership successful.”
