Jefferson Matters honors Daubendiek for many years of service

Jefferson Matters is recognizing and celebrating the service of longtime leader Jamie Daubendiek as he concludes his term as past president in April 2026.

Daubendiek served as president of Jefferson Matters from 2013 to 2023, followed by three years as past president from 2023 to 2026. During that time, he played a key role in guiding the organization through years of growth, supporting local businesses, and helping shape the experiences and spaces that define downtown Jefferson today.

His leadership spanned countless milestones, including multiple Main Street Iowa award recognitions, continued progress in downtown building transformations, and the ongoing development of volunteer-led initiatives that support economic vitality and community engagement.

One of the most notable moments came in 2025, when Daubendiek joined community representatives in Philadelphia to celebrate Jefferson being named a Great American Main Street Award winner, a goal he had carried since attending his first national Main Street Conference in Baltimore years earlier.

Throughout his time with Jefferson Matters, Daubendiek remained focused on building a strong, connected community. His leadership helped create an environment where local businesses can grow, public spaces are active and welcoming, and events continue to bring people into Jefferson.

“Jamie is the perfect combination of quiet strength and vision. I admire his ability to see the big picture while understanding the day-to-day details. He helps people understand that sometimes projects take time and even seem like there is not a way to get them done…. But if you stay the course, it will happen,” said president Amy Milligan.

Jefferson Matters extends its sincere appreciation to Daubendiek for his years of leadership, perseverance, and commitment to the community.

The organization’s leadership team will continue under the direction of current president Amy Milligan, alongside vice president Kristin Russell.

Jefferson Matters remains focused on supporting local businesses, enhancing public spaces, and creating opportunities for residents and visitors to connect, explore, and experience Jefferson.
