Memorial services for Wanda Anderson will be held at Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home in Jefferson Saturday, May 2, 2026. Private interment in the Jefferson Municipal Cemetery will be at a later time.
Wanda Lee Anderson, daughter of Kenneth and Marie (Roberts) Golden, was born March 9, 1934. Wanda attended school in Dana and graduated in 1952. After graduation, she worked at a café and newspaper office in Grand Junction.
Wanda married Don McDowell in October of 1953. They had three boys. Wanda and Don divorced in 1963.
Wanda took employment at the Jefferson Hospital and moved to Jefferson in September 1963. She married Larry Anderson in 1964 and had two children.
Wanda continued to work at the Jefferson Hospital until February 1994.
Wanda’s passion was her family. She loved to care for her grandchildren, and even raised granddaughter Ashley. She loved to have family gatherings.
Wanda died April 25, 2026, at the age of 92 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Verna Mae Clingan; former husband Larry Anderson in 2021; and her son Jerry McDowell in 2024. Wanda is survived by children Bill (Dannelle) McDowell, Bob (Jeannie) McDowell, Craig Anderson (special friend Paulette Stampe), and Ashley (Andrew) Humphrey; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters Virginia Patch and Jolene Wright; other relatives; and friends.
