Graveside memorial services for Daniel Scheffers, age 81, of Jefferson will be held April 15 at St. Joseph Cemetery in Jefferson.
Daniel Dean Scheffers was born May 4, 1942, in Carroll County, the son of Franklin and Dorothy (Pettit) Scheffers. Dan was a graduate of Jefferson High School. He served in the United States Air Force Reserve, and was honorably discharged in 1960.

He worked at Franklin Manufacturing for a few years before he got a job at Oscar Mayer as a meat cutter. He worked there until 1988. Afterwards, Dan went back to school and graduated from AIB College of Business. He worked in sales for both a Chrysler automobile dealership and for Solar Ray until he retired at the age 62.
Dan enjoyed golfing. He liked to socialize with friends at Doc’s Stadium and being outside working in his yard. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes football fan. Dan loved spending time with his family, and with his dog, Henry.
Daniel Scheffers passed away at his home in Jefferson on April 9, 2024. He was 81 years of age. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Barbara Kendall and Bonnie Scheffers.
Survivors include his wife Nancy Scheffers of Jefferson; sons Jeff (Joyce) Scheffers and Jimmy Scheffers of Winterset; step-children Lisa (Dean) Wilkins of Jefferson and Scott (Mako) Albright of Iowa City; brothers Frank (Helen) Scheffers, Jack Theulan and Mike Theulan; sister Jane Rutter; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
