Patsy McGinnis, age 95, long-time resident of Jefferson, passed away March 31, 2024. Private family interment will be in the Jefferson Municipal Cemetery.
Patsy was born November 14, 1928, in Carroll, to Carl and Bessie (Shelts) Kahoe. She survived polio as a young girl which left her with partial leg paralysis. Despite her disability, she became an avid bowler and achieved a perfect 300 bowling score.
On October 14, 1968, Patsy was united in marriage to Jim McGinnis. Jim had served in both the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army during World War II. Patsy, Jim and their family lived for a time in California, then returned to Jefferson in 1988.
Patsy had a quick wit and kept an amazing memory, self-proclaiming herself as a town historian for Jefferson. She served the Lord for many decades at church events as an accomplished pianist and organist. She embraced and loved her Irish heritage, the Chicago Cubs, and the Kansas City Chiefs, but her heart and joy was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She lived a life of generosity with intentional and unconditional love for them.
Patsy C. McGinnis, age 95 years, met her Savior on Resurrection Sunday, March 31, 2024. She was preceded in death by her sisters Dorothy Cox and Mary Thomas; her children Jimmy, Deana, Patti, and Timmy Harper; her husband James McGinnis, who died in 1991; and a host of many relatives, dear friends, and loved ones.
Patsy is survived by her daughter Kim (Mike) Wright of Clive; granddaughters Megan (Daniel Cowan) Wright of Urbandale and Jordan (Eric) Olsen of Clive; and great-grandchildren Selah and Uriah Olsen.
Her family would like all to know that as long as you have breath, praise the Lord and know He has a plan for your life to make an eternal impact. Leave a legacy for your family and others.
The family is assisted by Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home of Jefferson, 515-386-2171.
