Dolores Mull, 1935 – 2024

Dolores Jean (Pollock) Mull died February 12, 2024, at the age of 88.  Dolores was the third of six children born to George and Lucille (Ballard) Pollock in Adaza on May 19, 1935.  She married Robert Millis in 1950 and had two daughters, Rochelle (Shelly) and Roberta (Robbi).  They later divorced and in August of 1965 she married Everett Mull.

Dolores grew up in Adaza and attended school at Lohrville. She worked most of her adult life. Her primary employment was with White Cleaners in Jefferson, working with Vince and Barb Hand for many years.

When they sold the business to Ozzy & Kay Ramaekers, she continued with them for several years. She left there to work at JC Penney in Carroll for several years, winning an award for selling the first winter coat in June of that year!  She then went on to work for several years for America Home Shield. She semi-retired and worked part-time at a couple of jobs in Jefferson until completely retiring.

Dolores loved horses and attended many horse shows over the years, as well as a few rodeos with the family. She enjoyed watching her nieces and nephew in the horse shows.  Family was everything to her. She took care of her mother for many years until her death in 2008, and then her husband until his death in 2014.

She loved the Lord and prayed daily. Her favorite since she was homebound was Pastor Salem of the Christian Worship Hour. He was on every Sunday morning from 9 to 10. She watched him “religiously”. Imagine her surprise when he called her one day!

For a number of years in the 1960s she taught Sunday school at the Methodist Church in Jefferson and for a time was on the education board. The littles were her favorites,  She was still making play dough for her great-great nephew Brooks until recently.

Turtles, gnomes and rocks adorned her home over the years, along with many family photos.  She was blessed by many gifts of these along the way.

She battled pancreatic cancer for over six years and won.  Cancer free!

Dolores is survived by her daughters Shelly Thornton (Mike Mentzer) of Jefferson and Robbi (Jim) Heath of New Ulm, MN; her grandson Jeremy Heath (Jackie Kriehbel); great grandchildren Blaine and Liz Olson; brothers Mel Pollock (Michaele) of Dallas, TX, and Ron Pollock of Jefferson; nieces and nephews Linda Vangilder, Mike Pollock, Scott Pollock, Katherine Pollock, Cheryl Meyers, Rhonda Taylor, Tammy Taylor, Roy Boyden Jr., Steven Boyden, Robin Pollock, Terri Tiffany and Ronnie Pollock; special grandson Bobby Countryman, along with many friends and family from Everett’s side of the family.

She is predeceased by her husband Everett Mull; her parents George and Lucille Pollock; her brother Marvin Pollock and his wife Verla; sisters Opal White and her husband Marion, and Marge Boyden and her husband Roy; sister-in-law Norma Pollock; niece Cindy Pollock; nephews Mark Durbin and Jeff Boyden; and special granddaughter Josie Booth-Coverdale.

Her loss leaves big holes in many hearts!  She was the matriarch of the family for years and would give the shirt off her back to anyone who needed it.  Hope Ministries and Christian Worship Hour were two of her favorite charities.

She says, “I’ll see you when I see you!”
