Greene County district court, week ending Jan. 19

In Greene County district court Adam John Taylor Hopkins, 38, of Jefferson was sentenced Jan. 18 to 90 days in jail after he pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana- first offense, amended from possession of marijuana- second offense. The jail term was suspended and he was placed on informal probation to the Greene County sheriff for one year. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. Hopkins was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge. He must pay restitution not to exceed $500 for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $100 court costs. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)

Logan Joseph Peed, 27, of Somers was sentenced to 10 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license barred. The jail term was suspended and he was placed on probation to the Greene County sheriff for one year. A judgment was entered for a $855 fine with a $128.25 surcharge. Court costs were $100. Joshua Joseph Ireland, 45, of Jefferson was granted a deferred judgment after he pleaded guilty to a charge of domestic abuse assault, strangulation, amended from domestic abuse assault impeding flow of blood/air. He was placed on probation to the Iowa Department of Correctional Services for one year. He must complete an accredited domestic abuse program, and he must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. He must pay a $855 civil penalty, restitution not to exceed $500 for his court appointed attorney’s fees, and $167 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Richard Burdine Young, 62, of Jefferson was granted a deferred judgment after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated. He was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. He must also complete a community college drinking driver school at his own expense. A judgment was entered for a $1,250 civil penalty; one-half has been waived because he has obtained a temporary restricted license. Court costs were $100. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Teresa Ann Bebb, 59, of Perry was sentenced to two days in jail after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated. She may complete the Des Moines Area Community College 48-hour alcohol education program in lieu of the jail time. She must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at her own expense. Bebb was fined $1,250 with a $187.50 surcharge; one-half will be waived if she obtains a temporary restricted license. Court costs were $100. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Isasbell Amanda Perez, 21, of Churdan was granted a deferred judgment after she changed her plea to guilty to one count of unauthorized use of credit card less than $1,500. She was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. A judgment was entered for a $855 civil penalty. Two counts of unauthorized use of credit card less than $1,500 were dismissed. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Teresa Ann Johnson, 43, of Jefferson was sentenced to 30 days in jail after she pleaded guilty to a charge of assault- simple, amended from domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness. The jail term was suspended and she was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. She must complete an assaultive behavior course through DMACC. She was fined $105 with a $15.75 surcharge. She must pay restitution not to exceed $500 for her court appointed attorney’s fees. Court costs were $131.50 (Sentencing: McCarville)

Dana Mark Johns, 62, of Jefferson was sentenced Jan. 17 to 180 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana- second offense. All but two days of the jail term were suspended and he was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. Johns was sentenced to 180 days in jail with all but seven days suspended after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated- second offense. The jail terms are consecutive. He may complete the DMACC 48-hour alcohol education program in lieu of two days of the jail time. He was fined $1,875 with a $855 surcharge; both were suspended. The court found him unable to pay restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and court costs. Charges of possession of methamphetamine- second offense and eluding were dismissed. Reyna Y Quintanilla, 51, of Perry was sentenced to one year in jail after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated- second offense. All but seven days of the jail term was suspended and she was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. She must complete a community college drinking drivers school. She may complete the DMACC 48-hour alcohol education program in lieu of two days of the jail time. She must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at her own expense. Quintanilla was fined $1,875 with a $281.25 surcharge. Daniel L. Rosenow, 37, of Jefferson was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. Rosenow was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge; both were suspended. He must pay restitution not to exceed $500 for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $100 court costs. A charge of possession of methamphetamine was dismissed. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: Lyle Lee Olesen, 59, of Coon Rapids, operating while intoxicated; and Jared Michael Ramold, 33, of Ogden, operating while intoxicated- second offense. Trial dates were set for April 9 in both cases.

Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Dakota Michael Gustin, 32, of Cherokee, possession of marijuana and possession of methamphetamine; Tiffany McCalley, 51, of Grand Junction, possession of methamphetamine; Jay D. Wenger, 35,of Beaver, false report of indictable offense to public entity; James Michael Timmons, 43, of Jefferson, operating while intoxicated- second offense; and Jeremy Ernest Andrews, 35, of Jefferson, driving while license barred.
