Monthei to run for county sheriff

Shane Monthei today announced his intention to challenge incumbent county sheriff Jack Williams in the November 2024 general election.

“Fellow Greene County residents,

“My name is Shane Monthei and I am excited to share with you my intentions to run for Greene County sheriff in the upcoming election.

“I was raised right here in Greene County, graduating from Jefferson-Scranton High School in 1990. After graduation I joined the military, serving for 11 years.

“Following my military discharge I began my law enforcement career. I started as a dispatcher in Jefferson in 2002, then switched to the police department in May of 2003. After serving our community through city law enforcement, I made the move to the Greene County sheriff’s office in August of 2012.

“Having over 20 years of law enforcement experience and a long family heritage that is rooted right here in our community, I believe that I can bring positive change to Greene County.”
