Nancy Houska encourages donations to Greene Backer campaign

To the editor,

It is hard for me to believe we have already entered the 2023 holidays and will be flipping the calendars to 2024 in just a few short weeks.

I love this time of year, when people are filled with the spirit of the season and we carve out special memories with family and friends. This is also a time we are reminded of the importance of home and all that simple word means to us. The old joke says home is where they have to take you in, but for the majority of people, home is where they want to be. This is where there is an overwhelming sense of belonging. Where we welcome and care for each other without reservation. Home can of course be a place, but more importantly it is a feeling.

That is the feeling we strive to give every patient and family member treated at Greene County Medical Center and the Family Medicine Clinic. We are Your Home for Healthcare because we are your friends and neighbors, caring for you as a part of our family. This patient-centered focus lives in our vision of being Always Here, Always Caring, just like home is always there for you.

It is also clearly evident how you care for others as we see the impact of your giving. Over the past year, the Greene County Medical Center Foundation’s annual Greene Backer campaign has received donations in support of Pain Clinic services as well as for the purchase of an EDG scope. Because of your gifts, the Pain Clinic has doubled their monthly clinic days and is providing relief to 63% more patients than in 2022. We couldn’t have done this without your support.

This year, we are asking you to again consider home-based giving as a part of your year-end, legacy or recurring donations. All funds raised in the 2023 campaign will be used for the continued support of the Pain Clinic as well as the purchase of a multi-use ultrasound machine. The versatile piece of equipment will benefit patients in the Urology, Cardiac, Pain, Emergency, Acute and Orthopedic departments. This is a phenomenal opportunity to provide diagnostics, care and healing to those in our immediate region who call Greene County and the surrounding area home.

Make an impact and make a difference right here at home this year by becoming a Greene Backer. Donating is as easy as logging on to bit.ly/GreeneBacker, texting GREENEBACKER to 4144 or contacting me, Nancy Houska, at 515-386-0108 or by email at nancy.houska@gcmchealth.com.

Thank you for your continued support of quality healthcare and the expansion of available services by becoming a Greene Backer and by choosing Greene County Medical Center as Your Home for Healthcare.

Nancy Houska, Greene County Medical Center Foundation Director
