Greene County district court, week ending June 23

In Greene County district court Michael David Teeples, 30, of Jefferson was sentenced June 19 to five years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of intimidation with a dangerous weapon. He was also charged to 30 days in jail on each of three counts of harassment- third degree. The prison and jail sentences are concurrent. He was fined $1,025 with a $153.75 surcharge, and $105 with a $15.75 surcharge on each count of harassment. The fine and surcharge on the weapons charge were suspended. Charges against Teeples of prostitution and false imprisonment (three counts) were dismissed. A charge in magistrate court of reckless use of a firearm was also dismissed without court costs. Wayne Eugene Royer, 42, of Scranton was sentenced to 60 days in jail, with credit for time served, after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of animal neglect causing injury. All but two days of the jail time was suspended. He was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. Royer was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge; both were suspended. In a separate case against Royer, he was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for time served after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license revoked. The sentence is concurrent to the sentence in the animal neglect case. Royer was fined $1,000 with a $150 surcharge. Court costs were $100) (Sentencing: McCarville)

Roger Allen Burnie Jr, 37, of Jefferson was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of possession of methamphetamine. He was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year, and he must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. A charge of possession of marijuana- third or subsequent offense was dismissed. Court costs were $140. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Presley Bruce Johnson, 20 of Sioux Falls, SD, was granted a deferred judgment after he changed his plea to guilty to charge of possession of marijuana. He must pay a $430 civil penalty. He was placed on informal probation to the Greene County sheriff for one year, and he must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. Kayleigh Christine Harrah, 26, of Grand Junction was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for time served after she pleaded guilty to a charge of false report to public entity, amended from perjury. She was fined $105 with a $15.75 surcharge. She must pay an amount not to exceed $300 restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees and $136.50 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Persons pleaded not guilty to charges as follows: Todd Edward Geisler, 51, of Jefferson, operating while intoxicated- first offense; Larry Allen Simms, 61, of Carroll, theft- second degree and theft- third degree; Jonathan David Law, 39, of Churdan, OWI- second offense; Jason William Sheldahl, 52, of Scranton, criminal mischief- fourth degree and trespass causing injury or damage to property greater than $300; Mitchell Kenneth Venteicher, 38, of Jefferson, driving while license barred (two separate cases); and Dylan Ades, 20, of Rippey, possession of marijuana and domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness. Trial dates were set for Aug. 22 in every case.

Cases were initiated during the week ending June 23 as follows; Ashley Marie Spaulding, 26, of Jefferson, assault causing bodily injury or mental illness; Janon Lezlie Olson, 52, of Jefferson, theft- fifth degree; and Antonio Ramirez Espana, 50, of Montevideo, MN, assault while displaying dangerous weapon.
